Our Security Operations Command Center (SOCC)

In February 2023, SecurityPal unveiled the Security Operations Command Center (SOCC) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The SOCC was inaugurated by Honorable Dean R. Thompson, the U.S. Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Nepal, and our Founder and CEO, Pukar C. Hamal. Serving as the 24/7 hub for more than 200 employees, including security analysts, engineers, and GRC professionals, the SOCC marked the beginning of a new chapter in SecurityPal's journey towards redefining global cybersecurity standards.

“I recently had the opportunity to visit SecurityPal’s headquarters in Kathmandu, Nepal. We had so many unique experiences while I was there, including visiting the U.S. embassy, meeting the U.S. ambassador, and traveling to Mount Everest base camp! The entire team was super friendly, and it was great to see how SecurityPal is a driving force of developing a tech center in Nepal.” - Josh Mullis, Head of InfoSec at Productiv

Investing in the global ecosystem

The SOCC headquarters isn’t just a hub for SecurityPal employees. It’s the center of our investment in the global tech ecosystem. We have formed intentional partnerships in Nepal and beyond to invest in the future of technology, security, and GRC and drive innovation around the globe.

Fostering the next generation of security experts

Education – Our SOCC headquarters is in close proximity to some of Nepal’s best education institutions offering tech and security programs. SecurityPal partners with local education and training programs to mentor upcoming students entering the workforce in security and technology.

“SecurityPal is trailblazing how companies engage with emerging talent while also redefining the collaboration between industry and academia. We are proud to partner with them in what I believe is a transformative effort. SecurityPal is championing innovation at the intersection of education and industry, driving the meaningful changes we are beginning to see in both sectors. Colleges are adapting their schedules to align with this new model, offering students the opportunity to secure meaningful employment without compromising their education. As a leader in this movement, SecurityPal has inspired multiple other companies to adopt similar 'education-to-employment' programs, setting a new standard for industry engagement with academia” – Nanda Kishor Mandal, Founder Director at Skill Lab

New analyst program – We offer 30 New Analyst apprenticeships each year to young professionals in Kathmandu who are entering the field as security analysts. This program in SOCC office trained undergraduate students over three months, providing hands-on guidance from our in-house security experts. Participants gained practical experience with AI-enabled products, collaborated with industry professionals, and contributed to real-world projects.

“Being hired as a New Analyst at SecurityPal has been a dream experience of limitless growth, unwavering support, and the push to always go for more. Coming to the end of this journey, I’ve truly felt that I’ve grown exponentially in every way. From honing our presentation skills to quenching our thirst for cybersecurity, and having insightful conversations with experienced cybersecurity professionals, I feel grateful to have gotten the opportunity to kickstart my FIRST year in cybersecurity with SecurityPal.” – Aashra Pradhan, New Analyst (Summer 2024), SecurityPal

We also offer 100 virtual New Analyst apprenticeships for students outside of Kathmandu, who would otherwise not have access to on-the-job training opportunities. The program offers an opportunity for young professionals from underserved communities to learn on the job and develop critical training and skill building.

“Getting the opportunity to experience the professional environment as a New Analyst at SecurityPal has not only helped me grow technically, but also mentally. This being my first working experience, it has set a high benchmark and opened up a new path for me in cybersecurity. The hands-on experience, coupled with the guidance of mentors who are always ready to help, has provided valuable exposure to both soft skill development and technical exploration which will help to shape my future in the field. I am truly grateful for this opportunity, as it has given me a solid foundation to start my journey in cybersecurity.” – Sarina Maharjan, New Analyst (Summer 2024), SecurityPal

Nepal Hacks @ SecurityPal – We host an annual hackathon where members of Nepal’s tech community are invited to team up and develop innovative software solutions in a single day. Our 2024 hackathon welcomed 10 dynamic teams, and winners developed technical solutions for education management, maternal healthcare, and commuting through traffic.

Investing in Silicon Peaks and beyond

The Great Nepali Diaspora – Our strategic partnership with The Great Nepali Diaspora (TGND) aims to create new pathways for Nepali professionals in the field of cybersecurity. TGND is a 501c3 nonprofit organization that facilitates meaningful ways for Nepali Diasporas to invest their time, talent, and resources in communities throughout Nepal and the world. They do this by providing training, resources, mentorship, and connections through various professional programs.

Talks at SecurityPal – We host an event series where our Nepal team gets to learn from and engage with experts from across industries. Notable guests include:

Our Stories – What started as a platform to connect with peers by sharing accounts of bravery and courage has grown into a cherished tradition in its third year. The annual “Our Stories” event, hosted at our Nepal headquarters, fosters a sense of community through storytelling, while giving our team the opportunity to develop their public speaking and storytelling skills.

Giving back to our communities

Team Daya partnership – In 2024, we announced our collaboration with Team Dayā, an esteemed group dedicated to building primary schools in some of the most impoverished communities worldwide. Since 2018, Team Dayā has been a beacon of hope, building schools and uplifting communities in Nepal, Senegal, Guatemala, Malawi, and Nicaragua. Their approach of collaborating with local communities ensures that the impact of each project is sustainable and deeply rooted in the local context. We're provided matching funds towards constructing a primary school in the Western Terai region of Nepal.
